Aphex Twin used his real name for an album that reflected the sound of the age and the way he felt about it. Composed mostly on a Mac – James moved away from pure electronica into a more hard-hitting soundscape – ambient meets jungle by way of child-like voices .

Aug 14,  · When I listen to this album, I can't say that I think too much of it. But then when I listen to any other electronically based piece of music made after this, I realize just how important and influential the Richard D. James Album is to music. fav tracks: Corn Mouth, Fingerbib, To Cure a Weakling Child81%(5).

The Richard D. James Album also contains some of the warmest, most playful tunes Aphex Twin has ever made. The synth line introduced around the 30 second mark on Fingerbib (what an adorable title by the way) is case in point. Goon Gumpas sounds like something I'd hear in Disney World/5().
  7. Zulkijar says:
This was my first foray into IDM and Aphex Twin, and this album changed my life! While not the best electronic or best Aphex Twin album, The Richard D. James album is perfect as a gateway drug into the wonderful world of IDM. It took me until 'fingerbib' until I did not want to listen to any other music.

Jan 18,  · Most recently I decided to get the Richard D James album and I am finding it extremely difficult to get into. It's not that the songs necessarily sound bad it's just that most of the songs actually cause my earphones to distort, unless that's just the music. Songs like 4, Fingerbib, and Carn Marth tend to cause a lot of distortion, is that.
